Seeds of Scotland
Chives - Icelandic *NEW 2024/25*
Allium schoenoprasum - Approx. 200 seeds.
This traditional cultivar was collected in Pálsson, Reykjavik, by the Nordic Genetic Resource Centre. Chives are a hardy perennial that make a wonderful addition to any garden. They produce fresh leaves each spring and vibrant flowers in summer, which are highly attractive to pollinators. Harvesting regularly encourages regrowth.
The harvested leaves and flowers can be used raw as a garnish for soups and salads, providing a mild onion flavour. The flowers are also edible and make a unique addition to dishes.
Growing Info.
