Texel Greens *NEW 2024/25*
Brassica carinata - approximately 300 seeds.
Sometimes known as Abyssinian mustard or Garlic kale. This delicious salad green has a lovely mild garlic flavour when eaten raw, like a combination of spinach and wild garlic. This is one of our favourites! You can also, harvest immature flower stems and cook them like broccoli. Well suited to cut-&-come-again. Successional sow throughout the season to have a constant supply of these delicious leaves.
alternative spelling: 'Texsel'
Growing Info
Sow into modules indoors from March until September. Transplant after 3-4 weeks. May also be direct sown from early spring through late summer. Sow in succession for an extended harvest.
Texel Greens are hardy and August/September sowings can be transplanted undercover to provide a crop throughout the winter.
Tip: Cover young plants in insect mesh to protect from flea beetle (spring/summer).
